Hello all,
System info: Ubuntu 14.04.2 and Areca 1680ix
My home server has recently started acting flaky and I strongly suspect a disk in my array is going bad. The below messages have recently started showing up in the syslog.
I never originally installed the driver for the card as I never seemed to have needed it before but wondering (hoping) if this might be a driver issue. So with that in mind:
1. Is installing the areca driver necessary on modern linux systems? If so, does the .deb work? What functionality does it provide?
2. Is the .deb driver (arcmsr_1.30.0X.19-ubuntu-14.04.2) effective in installing the driver correctly? or do you need to install using source?
3. Can anyone tell me if this is a failing disk issue or something else?
Thank you very much for any help in advance.
EDIT: Realized this isn't the array but rather the SSD OS disk... also suspecting it has to do with trim... but still looking for diagnoses help and the above questions are still on my mind.
EDIT 2: Changed title of this post to reflect more accurate issue.
