Hi all,

I'm rebuilding my computer into a new case and upgrading from 250gb disks to 1tb disks. My problems started like this:

Ik installed 5 new Hitachi 7K1000.C drives to the areca. All previous array's were deleted. First time round, McRaid found it all, worked ok. I noticed that drive 5 was on port 6, so for the look i shut down, and plugged the cable in the number 5 slot. Nothing fancy.

Now when i reboot it says: "No BIOS disk found. RAID controller BIOS not installed."

I can access the setup menu using Tab/F6, all the drives are there, i can create an aray ( made a raid0 for testing ). In windows the areca is found in Hardware, and i can initialize the disks and use them ( in 2tb max setting, think i forgot something there )
However McRaid does not find anny controller, and so i can't access McRaid to set up the array, update BIOS or anything.

I tried to update using DOS bootable floppy with NFLASH and the latest files like:
ARC1220BIOS.BIN
ARC1220BOOT.BIN etc. etc.

I used comandlines like:
nflash arc1220bios.bin /c0 etc.
Then it does it's stuff, and says it's passed.

After that all, i reboot, and still get the message that BIOS is not found etc. And so i can't access through McRaid in windows.

Who can help me... I haven't got a clue what to do....

Problem solved...

It seemed that by connecting the 1tb hdd's the larger than 2tb thing went into action. Causing problems with items like 64LBA en GPT format.

I removed the drives, installed 2 80gb old drives, booted and McRaid came back, as well as BIOS. Deleted all, updated alle firmware.

Shut down, reconnect 1tb drives, boot to windows, enter McRaid and configure RAID 5 with Larger than 2TB space, with 64LBA on and 64bitt stripe size.
Activate under windows not as MBR, but as GPT, partition if you like and ready :D

Thing is running like clockwork.

Thanks all :D
