Looking at your 5970 review I would say you are getting throttling if you look at the power figures for load stock vs. overclock and temperature, both far too small an increase considering the voltage and clock speed increase.

you couldnt of just posted this in the ongoing discussion at the top of this sub forum?

cough troll cough delete thread cough..

Of course, we thought about this, if it weren't for the FPS increase also associated with the overclock. With the new way the RAM works, we have to overclock until we see a decline in performance, then back off until we reach the climax of performance, this is the highest stable overclock. It actually takes quite a bit of time and work to make sure the overclocks are just right. We were at the apex of performance with these overclocks on this particular card. Keep in mind the cooler has a 100W delta, it is under utilized with the card at stock, so overclocking at these levels were a cake walk for it.

Also keep in mind the power and temps shown for Overclocking were of the NON Modified values, i.e. 800MHz GPU and 5.2GHz memory.

What I did not post was the Power Utilization at 900MHz/5.4GHz, which was 620 Watts at the wall total system power.

Would have been worth posting the OVed numbers too IMO, but the non-modified clocks to those numbers make more sense.
