Well, I'm playing around with my 2500k and I while stress testing I tried Linpack with AVX support. Holy crap my cores hit almost 10c hotter than normal Linx. As it is Linx is no walk in the park for your cpu. At a higher multi it would take more juice than I would feel comfortable feeding the cpu to stabilize. This is one of those times where I'm not so sure that it's even worth it. So far it looks like I may be normal Linx stable and I will do a little prime testing as well. I don't run any apps that even support avx and even when I do I doubt that they will stress the cpu that hard but on the off chance that something does...

Should I even be concerned?

As i said many times,Linx AVX fully utilizes the CPU new instrutions (more than older Linx) so your previous stable config might need more tweaking to be stable again.

Nothing to worry about.
 
It's not really that I'm worried. I'm just wondering if it's even worth stabilizing for such an obscene load.

To be honest though not being completely stable is going to bug the crap out of me. I'm probably going to have to stabilize my oc for this test.
 
How often ya gonna use 100% cpu tho rite .. I guess you could turn your clock down, bench/test with Lynx and then turn it back up :D
 
I don't want to be one of those people crying in the pc gaming section about "xxxx game" being a "buggy pos" because of random crashes or "xxx driver" being a pos either because of some odd artifacts from a mildly unstable overclock. Its not about 100% cpu usage.

Ether way I've settled with 4.7ghz and have that Avx stable. I'm just doing a little prime testing now.
 
The AVX pretty much pushes the SB CPU to its limit where no application can reach.So you can accept the instability in some degrees.
 
In my brief and limited SB overclocking experience I had no problem getting my overclock Prime a regular linx stable, but I would get crashes doing simple tasks and video encoding. Maybe Linx AVX is what I should of been testing with.
 
I noticed this too. i used to be able to test stable at 5ghz @ 70C no problems with the normal linpack, but with the new AVX support I struggle getting it stable past 4.6ghz and i reach around 75C according to realtemp
 
I like to run linx at 100 passes to ensure stability using 6gb of ram. Usually hit about 75c at 4.8ghz on my 2600k. Thanks for the link to my site :)
