Are these temps reasonable (4790k)?

Hi,

I've never once in my life overclocked a CPU, but I finally decided I want to give it at try. I bought a used 4790K and MSI Z97 Gaming 5 mobo from a guy on reddit, and I picked up a Corsair H100i GTX from NewEgg to cool it. Originally the H100i seemed loose, so I removed it and put some small rubber washers on the backplate, this tightened everything right up. While I had it off I got rid of all of the original thermal paste that was on it and replaced it with Arctic MX4. Before tightening it and replacing the paste, my temps were about 4-5C higher than they are now.

Running "completely stock" with just the normal 4.2 Ghz turbo these are the temps I'm seeing now with Intel Burn Test. It's way hotter than I imagined it would be with liquid cooling, but I'm coming from a Hyper-212 EVO cooled Xeon E3-1230 V2 so what the hell do I know?

Just wanting to make sure everything looks "reasonable" before I start even trying to OC. Thanks!

Those temps look high for stock clocks. Especially on a 240mm radiator.

Might want to crank up the fans on the H100. Also, is that the fastest that pump will go? I know on my old H80i it would run at like 2400 rpm. And how are the fans oriented? Intake or exhaust?

IME those are normal temps; 4790's are hot sumbitches.
I hit mid-70's on my 4790K with a Hyper 212 Evo, essentially @ the same speed (4.4 dialed in) with Vcc also dialed in on what "Auto" gave me.
You may be able to shave a few C off by re-seating and applying new TIM, or by adjusting Vcc and setting it to the actual voltage instead of leaving it on "Auto" (which generally overvolts).

Both the Fans and Pump on the h100i can operate at higher speeds. I'll re-test tonight with a different, more aggressive, cooling profile.

The radiator is mounted horizontally at the top of my case (Fractal Design R5), the fans are "pushing" out through the radiator to vent out the top of the case.

I have a 120mm intake fan at the front of the case, and a 140mm intake at the bottom of the case. No fan at ll in the rear at the moment.
