Howdy, y'all. I'm worried about the temps in my box.

I'm currently running:

AthlonXP 2800+
Abit NF7-S Rev. 2.0
Radeon 9800Pro
512MB OCZ EL PC3200

Now, here's the thing. I installed Motherboard Monitor, and earlier today (before I got the 9800Pro), I was getting temps of like 39C for the case and 46C idle on the cpu. Now I'm getting around 41C in the case and 52C idle on the cpu. I know that isn't a *huge* jump, but I'm wondering if those temperatures are okay to operate at? The CPU gets to near 60C when I'm gaming.

I don't have any extra case fans in this box, and I've been meaning to. Man, that 9800 puts out a lot of heat! I wasn't expecting that!

So what do you guys think? Are those temps safe?
 
Actually, now that I think of it, I don't know if those temps are right... That's what MBM is displaying, but I just opened it, and there's no way it's 40C in there as the ambient temp. Maybe the 9800 is just big and restricting airflow over that sensor that handles the case temp... I'm not sure.
 
the 9800 pro puts out alot of heat. i was having problems until i bought a artic cooling revision 3 heatsink. works great. i overclocked my card, and it brought down my cpu temp by 5C!
 
Assuming those temps are correct, that is a little warm for most people's taste. Install an exhaust fan or two and get some air moving and you should be just fine.
 
I know that 60c can be dangerous, you are most likely recuding the life of the CPU by many years running it that hot. Personally I run my 2500+ barton at 3200+ and my idle temp is 48c, higher or lower depending on the day. under load it never goes past 55, any higher and i get real nervous.. try to keep it under 60 man, thats my only advice. I suggest a better CPU cooler from www.newegg.com

Good point. I really need to at LEAST take the time to scrape that damn TIM off of the heatsink and add some thermal paste instead. I'm not overclocking, and I'm using the stock cooling, but all I care about is a stable system.

Any particular coolers that you guys recommend for AthlonXPs?

I was even thinking about going for THIS. I know I could do better as far as water cooling goes, but this seems very easy to set up (I'm too lazy these days), and the temps are pretty damn good for an out of the box solution. It's affordable, too.
 
Yeah the new Kingwin looks great. nice price too, I would reccomend a slk900 from thermalright, all you need is to put a fan on top of it, vantec tornado would be awesome, but it will be a bit loud.. that should decrease temps by a LOT!
 
I run my Athlon 2500+ @3200+ also but my idle temp is 37c and my load only hit 50c after 12 hours of running Prime95 and 3Dmark2001(looping) together, normally load is around 45c. I use an old antec coppercore HS/fan (the tall cylinder shaped one). :D
