Are these good temps?

Hello all,

I live in Puerto Rico and right now, the temperature outside is 91F and very humid. Ok, I have a Athlon 64 3700+ "San Diego" running on an ASUS A8N-SLI. It's not overclocked yet because I want to make sure the cooling is good before starting to overclock this baby.

Here are my average idle temps (Prime95 - full load temps are within parenthesis):

Daytime no AC: CPU/MOBO = 34C/34C (40C/34C)
Daytime w/AC: CPU/MOBO = 29C/29C (35C/29C)
Nighttime no AC: CPU/MOBO = 31C/31C (37C/37C)
Nighttime w/AC: CPU/MOBO = 27C/27C (33C/27C)

Are these temps good? Am I good to go, to start overclocking?

The cpu is being cooled with a ThermalTake Tornado which has 6 heatpipes and a 120mm fan. The case is a CoolerMaster Wave which has (2) 80mm intake fans in the front, and (3) exhaust fans. Of the 3 exhaust fans, two are 80mm fans mounted on the rear and top, and one 120mm fan mounted on the side panel blowing straight into the PCI-E cards.

Thanks for any feedback.

Of course you can start overclocking, BUT you will be limited to how far you can OC compared to say, people in colder areas. It all depends on how high of temps you want in the end.

good luck

Thanks for your reply. I have another question. After much trial and error, I finally have a stable system with the following specs:

Core Speed: 2809.5 mhz
Multiplier: 10x
HTT: 280.9 mhz
Vcore: 1.475v

Memory frequency: 234.1 mhz
FSB:DRAM - CPU/12
Latencies: 2.5-3-3-6

Prime95 and MemTest COMPLETELY STABLE.

My question has to do with the temperature differential between idle and full load for the CPU.

With the above specs:

IDLE CPU temp: 29C
IDLE CASE temp: 25C

FULL LOAD CPU temp: 42C
FULL LOAD CASE temp: 26C

As you can see, under full load, the cpu temp increases by 13C degrees. Is this raise normal or should I get a faster fan for my cpu?

Nothing to worry about there at all. Those are still some great load temps, and all on only 1.47vcore. Good job.
