Are there really long crossfire cables?

My friend is putting two ASUS 280x's on an Asrock fatality board. For better spacing purposes he's putting one ASUS in the top slot and one in the very bottom, so two slots inbetween them.

The ASUS cards are big, and a 10cm crossfire cable will not connect them. He's looked for longer crossfire cables but can't find any.

Anyone have ideas?

Based on the likelihood that the last slot is only x4 capable, I wonder if that's a worthwhile idea...?

Is it an option to run the second card in the third slot? Seems like the second card would run hot anyway. With so little space between the fans and the bottom of the case, I would think that the hot air would end up being reflected back onto the card. Unless this has been compensated for, of course.

If you can put a door fan or a lower intake in the case, that would probably help.

My friend obviously could run the card in the second/3rd slot, but I'd rather not.

Is there any way to connect two crossfire cables together?

Nope, That is for laptops.

yea it's for laptops, doesn't mean it's not gonna work, it's 20pins, same as regular crossfire bridge... obviously he would need to plug it into 2 normal bridge cables at both ends,

op you should email the seller and ask if that cable fits into regular crossfire bridge cable, if it does, it "should" work, but if you really really need it, i guess it's worth a try

Longest ones I've seen are 100mm or approx. 4 inches, and yes they're for desktop cards. I've seen them on Amazon and Newegg.

And WTH is with people answering questions like "where do I find such-and-such an cable" with "buy two of these $600 video cards instead"? Way to be helpful, guys.

Get a short one. Cut it in half. Peel off some of the insulation. Get a handful of jumper wires with alligator clips. They're cheap. Clip 'em on. Presto. Ghetto? Hell yeah. But your geek cred will skyrocket.

I think this is the longest I've found also -- could not find anything longer. I read that you could ask for help from the manufacturer and they might send you the rare, longer bridge.
