are there basic video card drivers for windows 7

I have an older laptop from 2004 that I would love to get windows 7 installed on. The problem I have come across is that video drivers are not available from ATI for windows 7. Are there any basic video drivers I can try that will allow me to gain the correct resolution on my screen?
 
It's an ati mobility x600 according to the specs I can find online. It's been a long time since I did any work with this guy so I have forgotten a lot of the specs. It's a gateway cx200x.
 
it should work. windows 7 has ati drivers going back to the 9000 series of cards.
 
wow, specs of laptop and how's it runnin so far, aside from resolution issue?

Try the legacy Vista driver.
 
I found the legacy section of AMDs site. The driver package will install. (That's a step further than before) but it doesn't update the video card driver. I even tried installing the drivery manually from device manager but windows says it already has the best driver available.
