Are suspended Hds safe?

So if I wanted to suspend my Hds to kill the noise are they ok if I move my comp? I got 2 WD 10,000 rpm 36 GB raptors and a 7200 rpm 250 GB wd. Do you need to do anything special to secure them when more your comp cause wouldn't the HD bang around alot in the case?
 
I don't see why not. As long as you don't transport your computer while it is powered up.

I am looking to do the same thing, though I am going to be encasing them in some kind of sound eliminating case and then suspending them.

I plan on using a bungie-cord esque type rope to suspend them. It is pretty sturdy and allows for a very small amount of play, but I will have it rigged so that it would take a 10ft+ drop to cause them to hit anything in the computer.

I may look into changing the type of 'rope' that I am wanting to use to suspend them though. As rubber will break down over time when subjected to the temps in a computer case, and I wouldn't want the haddrives falling while in use.

Or you could just rubber grommets on your bays.

Or, you could use this guide to make your own HD cooler/silencer. As for you having three HDs....I don't see a problem (other than what case you have) with just stacking them up in front of your intake fan.

Or, if you want to do the grommet thing, but are in need of more HD rack space...create your own!.

The hole spacing on the simpson strong-tie nail plates ( the one thaty are just rectangles) are exactly the same as a HDD for making your own racks
