Opinion and question...

I think that until there is a newer and faster sata bus i.e. sata iv ssds are pretty much static.

I know there is room for improvement in nand, durabikity, wear lev, trim stuff, and controllers etc... but when can we expect a new sata standard?

I.e. as much as I would like to upgrade, going from my crucial m4 256gb drives to anything is honestly seemingly a side grade. Opunions?

What in the hell? My phone sucks. Mods please del these fail post. I will poat on my pc later. Sorry 4 phone making duplicate

I think the technology in terms of speed and interface is static right now. Manufacturers are focused on using smaller lithography and cheaper memory types (TLC) to bring the costs down. This is necessary to give Ultrabooks/PC tablets larger drive sizes at price points consumers are willing to pay..

There is talk of new interface to replace msata in ultrabooks but that will not affect desktops at all.

Hrmm yeah .. I was wondering because with games topping upwards of 20GB of disk space i.e. FarCry 3 on my Crucial 4 still takes over 2 mins to load the title screen typically. I couldn't imagine a hard drive taking that long.

FC3 makes me want to load it from a ram disk.
