To me the most important piece to a good system is the power supply...final.
Yes cheeper PSU's are ok and work,
but for me,(educate me to a better solution) PC power & cooling is the way to go.
 
Most important yes. They are the only part that could take the rest of your system out. Choices in the poll are lacking.

In what respect are the choices lacking?
I did alot of surfing and seaching and found that alot of people feel that PC Power & cooling is expensive but the best bling for the buck.
So to me PCP&C
then next choice
a better solution
then
......as above in the poll

Not every system would a PCP&C be the ideal solution.

That and the question to lure people in doesn't really match the options.

They don't match very well. Yes, no, maybe, no idea.....would match better.

Now for the other part. For instance, you don't put a PC Power & cooling in a silent system. It is the wrong fit for your goals. So in that situation the PC Power & cooling would not be the best final.

poll choices make no sense...for example you ask "are PSU's the most important part?" yet one of your poll options is "other alternatives are just as good"...as if there is an alternative to a psu...well you could try soldering an extension cord right onto the atx connector :rolleyes: :rolleyes: (please dont make me explain that that was sarcasm)

yes it should have....any way i give it an 9 if you overclock and a 5 if you dont

yes, the power supply is an important part of any system

but as for PC power & cooling, probably not needed unless you are going SLI, there are plenty of other power supplies that are very good and a whole lot cheaper out there
 
i said 9 for overclocking because a good mobo has got to be your mumber one consideration without a good mobo you will not have a stable system. But for a non oced system both the mobo and psu drop down the list because most components will function perfectly while in the mfg suggested parameters

Yes the PSU is the most important part of the system. So I always go with a name brand that I trust. For most Machines I build, I use Enermax or Antec. Good solid name brands that will be good for the Average machines I build. For my Powerhouse... I use PC Power And Cooling. But that is my personal preferance.
 
The reality is first you pick all the components for your new PC, then you pick the proper PSU to make it work.

There are far too many posts in here where someone has built a monster computer then been totally flustered that their new $49.95 LED laden chrome plated detachable wire 1.2 pound PSU isn’t enough to drive it.

So yes, it’s a really really important part of your system.
 
very very important but i still dont believe it is the MOST important part you dont have to have a $150 power supply for every system there are plenty of mid to lower-high end (80-$120) psus that will do the job with good stability. The motherboard is my vote for the most important part

But this isn't about a MB or GPU or CPU it is about PSU !

To me with out a proper PSU all else is muut !

Its not our fault that you worded this thread entirely wrong and even if you worded it "on a scale from 1-10 how important is the psu" if anyone said anything but 10 it would be pertinent to mention why it is not the most important component and wich component is :rolleyes:

i agree a psu is really really important but if you have an ocz powerstream 520wt powering a freaking foxconn mobo with a sis chipset well then you system is gonna be a piece of crap but a decent DFI or MSI board coupled with a midrange psu like a fortron or coolermaster then you will have a pretty kickass system
