Are my read/write speeds acceptable?

I have an Areca 1882 in a Dell Poweredge R320. Using 16 WD REDs.

My Read / Write speeds are 1584MB/s / 416MB/s. I'm using RAID6.

Should my writes be better? I'm ok with the speed of my reads I guess. I'd like to know if my speeds are where they are suppose to be.

Thanks.

With those drives I would consider those writes subpar on an empty raidset. How full is your volume, how is your raidset setup, what OS and FS are you using?

Your writes are slow. Do you have a battery and caching enabled?

My 8 drive RAID 6 on an Areca ARC-1880i does 750MB/s+ sequential.

Very slow write speeds. Enable write cache and purchase a battery or capacitor module whatever your card uses.

I have the battery unit for the 1882. Write Cache is enabled as far as I know. The raid volume was empty. Freshly created with 0 data.

Its Windows 2012 Server using NTFS.

Should I take some screen shots of the config of my card?

How are they connected? 16/24 port Arc-1882? Chassis with built in SAS expander?

They are connected to a Norco DS-24E 24 bay enclosure which has an Areca expander built in.
