Are ITX cases the future?

With hardware shrinking and people consolidating - do you think there will be a future where ATX is a niche?

yes.

I do think HTPC's will be mostly ITX thanks to the poor selection of cases out there.

With more stuff being integrated into the mobo there's less need for more slots. When I built my first pc I had to add a modem/network card, sound card, video card, storage controller, and god knows what else. Now the onboard stuff is good enough that you don't really need to add anything other than a video card, and even as an enthusiast I struggle to find a reason to need all those slots. I doubt I'll be willing to give up the ATX sized cases, just because, but doesn't mean the mainstream won't get there.

I doubt too that ITX will be the way for enthusiasts. Im not saying there no exist capable ITX mobos, but most of the times enthusiast=watercooling, and try to watercool an ITX case, is just a ... little nightmare :))
