I've had this Biostar 210P for a month or 2 now, been to 2 LANs. I got a case carrier , but it doesnt come close to fitting it. I was just wondering if andyone had a link or anything showing something on how it could but non-safe. The metal is kinda thin on these so i dont want it to bend and have the top piece of the case pull off and bye bye computer. Thanks.
 
I know I wouldn't trust them on my case. but that's just because it's damn heavy and I wouldn't trust them not to be ripped out when I picked it up. Then again I'm just paranoid and I havn't actually had any experience with them. So I'll leave a definite answer to someone more 'experienced' :p
 
I think that handles would be fine on that, you would just need to find some way to spread the weight out across the metal.

Also, that case is tiny! Why can't you just carry it like you would a little box. :p
 
Ideally you'd attach a handle to the case frame itself (the front or the back) rather than the cover. Then as long as you don't use really tiny screws you should be fine.

Alternately, just stick it in a duffel bag.
 
I was just trying to see if it was safe, just kinda wanted a new look. Although this thing is relativly new, its all black. and plain.
 
Case handles are very safe.

But really, case handles are perfectly fine, even on overly heavy rigs.....for something a little more "reassuring" check THESE out.....if that doesn't get you [H]ard then I dont know what will. ;)

EDIT: I would be puttin' some really pimp case handles on my Lian-Li to add to the mods, but I've hacked up the chasis so much at this point that it's far to structurally weak to handle it. ;)
 
The MNPCTech handles OWN!!!!!!!
I have them on my steel XaserIII that weighed in at 75lbs w/ my WCing inside and they felt ROCK solid.
I'm getting another pair for my new case.

And I took this thing everywhere from weekly LANs to QuakeCon 04. But I think these would look a little funky on a SFF. You could just put 1 right in the middle.
 
Man, I love seeing those things installed on ppl's comps....but it makes me sad that I can't have 'em. :(

Ah well, my carrying harness from the DFI board is good enough for what I need it for.....I'll be more pleased with my mods to the top of the case when its done then I would be with handles anyways. ;)

I really want to put them on my new case but then my XaserIII would have 2 big holes in the top.

Which is where mine is....my DTek Pro 'core takes up the upper 3/4 of my 5.25" cage.....and I've got a window cut overtop of the rear 2/3 of the top of the case.....not reallyleaving me any room.

Have you done something to the top of your case too?

I've probly seen it, just can' remember.
 
Well it's a custom case but I think I might build my res into the top. I still haven't figured if I want/need to use handles (it is WCed so I'm not sure I want to move it around) or if I want to make the top the res, you know?

I understand, it'll mostly just come down to if you put the res up top....I wouldn't worry a whole lot about moving it....I did with mine and things went fine.

i was thinking about doing that, but does it have to be a big somewhat piece of metal? can you just use the metal drive bay covers that you have to push out to install optical drives and such (its connected to the case chasis and is behind the plastic/metal bay covers, that are shown on the outside) know what i mean?

could i use that?

My handles have 4 screw holes, they fold and stuff like the mnpctech handles. Im gonna use 1/4 inch machine screws with 1/4 washers, would that be fine? (case is 36lbs without components) or do i need to put the bay cover?
 
I dont know how thin the steel is on those small form units but your best bet is to use a thin piece of titanium to support it. Titanium only weighs 40% of steel so you are not adding a ton of weight and titanium is way tougher than steel to bend. And titanium would be thinner... say to do what you want .050" titanium should be fine and would be as strong as .0925 steel.
 
But you can get titanium. Ask the nearest metal scrapyard, mine has huge sheets of titanium stock. mmm sexy...

i can use 2 drive bay covers on each, theyd connect to the top and the bottom x's
 
you're only using it on a small case, you could run to menards, pick up a simple handle, and the largest washers you can find. I did this for a fully loaded mATX tower. never had any issues with bending. And while aluminum is probably not as sturdy as the SECC steel used in an Inwin V523T, the case is also probably half the weight my case was.


on a related note, I'm looking now into some handles that won't interfere with a rackmount setup. The Chenbro in my sig is replacing a CoolerMaster Praetorian, as my needs for it as a server are going beyond what the Praetorian's capabilities as a workstation can provide.

40 lbs empty...add in a fully loaded system(2 DVD burners, eventually 9-10 harddrives, mobo, etc.) and it'll end up around 80 lbs if it's like my old Chenbro NET. A hernia waiting to happen...but handles would help me out. How flat do those MNPC handles fold; i.e. what is the height above the chassis in the stowed position?
