I have a HP f2105. Would getting one of the 22" monitors be a downgrade. Would love to get a 24" 1920x1200 but they're a bit too expensive.

Unless there are true 8-bit TN panels that I am not aware of....or a 22" panel that is not TN, then the answer is yes. Most 6-bit panels use "dithering" to achieve the same 16.7m colors as their 8-bit counterparts with sometimes mixed results. To be fair though..if it is done well then it is hard to tell the difference with an untrained eye. I would consider going from a good 20" S-IPS/P-MVA to a 22" to be a downgrade not only because of the different panel technology but also because you are stretching the same 1680x1050 resolution for the 2 extra inches which can make text slightly larger but also less sharp..

edit- the monitor you have uses an S-PVA panel iirc so going to a TN may or may not seem a downgrade to you.

Dithering only gets them upto 16.2 million colors. Even then it's not the most accurate.

The newest breed of TN claims 16.7 million colors, but when you look closely at the specs it says they are 6-bit + 2 (from dithering). They are still 6-bit panels, but they have better dithering than older TN's. I suppose they are good enough for the untrained eye, but I think you'd notice the loss of color if you've been using a real 8-bit panel.

Since that Eizo is claimed to have a 22" S-IPS....do you have a model number of the panel to reference at the LG/Philips site? Also...wouldn't that be a step backwards for a brand new S-IPS panel to only have a 170 degree viewing angle?

this is not lg philips panel,it use Mitsubishi "AA222ZA01" ,i only know this panel have 12 CCFL and different color filter

Ahh..ok. I wasn't aware that Mitsubishi manufactured lcd panels and I also thought that "Super in-plane switching" (S-IPS) was a technology developed by LG/Philips and only used by them..
