Can I use either of these compounds in my Acer laptop, and how effective will they be? According to FanSpeed, my laptop can get up to 80 Centigrade, and that is not comfortable!
Thanks for looking.

well, i guess you could use either (depending on how your laptop is setup inside), but we're talking about the difference between 80C and maybe 77C....not much of an improvement. To make the laptop have much better cooling, it takes more than a paste.

arctic silver 5 is the better choose for temps (its about 2-3C difference if that). i don't know much about cooling laptops though other than there are things that can be bought to cool the underside of them (which imo isn't worth it).

you'll probably see an improvement over the stock paste the put on it but as stated above it probably won't be much.

really both work really really well! I use AS5 right now, but onyl because my local compUSA had it when i needed some, I personally liked Ceramique better when I was useing it, its not conductive!

No dont the stock fan is fine. And for a Lappy use Ceramique.

A. Its nto conductive, and in a laptop you never know where AS5 could drip
b. AS needs to be replaced every now and then, it all drains out, Ceramique is a more long term soultion
c. Ceramique is cheaper!
d. Ceramique temps will be almost identical

I tried both and found really no differance worth mentioning.

Just don't spread it to thick
