I really dont know what is the difference between the two. But my main question which do you use?

i use Ceramique, but only because i didn't see the link for the larger tube of as5 on newegg when i placed my last order :(

Depends on what you are using it for. For CPU's definitely. For GPU's, yes. For RAM on video cards, ceramique.

Artic silver performs better but only by a little. Ceramique is regarded as the best for phase-cooling etc. If you think you might use a TEC or a mach one of these days just get the ceramique. Ceramique is a bit thicker I believe and can come in handy for some situations regardless. I use ceramique but wanted to let you know why. I use a mach I.

I use ceramique because it is noncapacitive, and cools as good as as5. Plus its a tad cheaper :)

edited- nonconductive to noncapactive.

If you get messy with AS5, bad things happen. When I tested it on my UEE card with a DangerDen and Innovatek block, the AS5 helped the GPU by about 3C over the ceramique. I would never use AS5 on mem chips since they really don't get that hot. Ceramique is 96% as efficient as AS5 and poses less risk because it is not conductive. I think AS5 also loses some efficiency over time so, if you want to set it and forget it, then Ceramique should be the choice.

I'm with him... basically for the same reasons there.

Here ya go:

http://www.thecrucible.ca/reviews/thermal/

this is pretty old, almost pre-AS5, but still useful.

AS5 is based on silver, and is electrically conductive. Ceramique is based on a ceramic paste, and is not electrically conductive. I myself use both, depending on application. Ceramique is a little easier to clean up, that's about it - YMMV

AS5 on CPU's
Ceramique on everything else...GPU, Chipset,,,

i dunno why i do things...

AS5 + XP-120 for me...maximum cooling power :) Plus, it's not hard to apply...small dot in the middle, and squish. No risk, no gain...go for AS5! :D

AS claims AS5 is NOT conductive, but it is capacitive. I think the non-conductive is a load of poo, I got it on the bridges on my XP proc and it wouldn't boot. Took quite a bit of time with alcohol and q-tips to get it off too.

Someday when I have enough AS to play a little I'm gonna put a blob on my bench and see if I can get a read on it with my DVM.

creamique. Rather not F something up on a little mistake. And it seems easier to apply to me... I like that it's thicker...

as5 is not electrically conductive but it is more of a pita to clean up. I use as5 on my cpu and asc on my cpu because it's easier to clean and the difference probably will not not be noticalbe on my computer.

Ok after reading that, I take back my statement on as5 being conductive, but you forget to mention that as5 is capacitive.
Arctic Silver 5 was formulated to conduct heat, not electricity.
(While much safer than electrically conductive silver and copper greases, Arctic Silver 5 should be kept away from electrical traces, pins, and leads. While it is not electrically conductive, the compound is very slightly capacitive and could potentially cause problems if it bridges two close-proximity electrical paths.)
Taken from as5 website

Definition of capacitive taken from websters dictionary online.

I've come to my own conclusion that as5 can hold an electrical charge even though it does not conduct electricity, but when it gets onto 2 bridges there is the potential danger of shorting somthing out. Im not saying don't use as5, don't get me wrong its a great product, but just like anything, using it incorrectly could damage somthing.

I got a 22g tube of Ceramique for cheaper than a 3.5g tube of AS5.

Sure my temps are 1 degree higher, but I have enough thermal paste to never buy any ever again. :p
