I ran both a VF700 and silencer when I had my 6800GT, and the VF700 did a better job. That exhaust is definitely overrated, as it didn't affect my CPU temps.

I'll be installing a VF900 on my 7900GT sometime this weekend, and I look forward to some good quiet performance.

The Arctic cooling NV5R3 is pretty nice, but keep in mind. I needed to modify it slightly to fit my 6800gs. The memory thermal pads were too high and the gpu was not making contact with the heatsink. I had to shave a bit off the memory thermal pads to make it fit.

It works quite well now, and is much quieter than the stock cooling.

I had the Arctic cooling NV5R3 on an XFX 6800GS and I didn't have to modify it at all. As for your question go with the the Arctic cooling NV5R3(link1).

nodle, you didn't mention your mb model. if you want to put a sound card that's as long as the sb audigy2 zs 2 slots below the vid card w/ silencer nv5r3, you have to put some kind of spacer between them to bend the sound card down just a tiny bit. the rounded black center of the nv's fan barely hits the audigy card's edge.

had to do this with asus a8n32-sli using 2 6800gt's and audigy between them w/ nv's on both cards. also, the bottom vid card's nv fan center is very close to the bottom of the case if mb is mounted near bottom of case as most are.

used a couple of accelero v1's on this setup, went back to nv5r3's for better gpu cooling. i can put up with the little spacer; used a 3pin fan header cut from old fan wires, fits perfectly.

No I don't have no cards underneath and I have plenty of room for either. Sounds like according to everyone the Nv5r3 are better.
