I know that this HSF uses the stupid clip mount, but I was wondering if anybody have another method of mounting it. Preferably mounting it down with a screw.

Please let me know!

Thanks,
Anthony

Good luck with that. I was thinking the samething. But there simply isn't a method of srewing it down without some serious modding. Clip it down man. Been down the same road you're thinking of going down.

Having installed more than a few ACF7Ps now, I can say that mounting them is getting much easier with a few little tricks. Firstly, use a plastic implement with a flat end to push down the metal arm without pushing down the plastic tab, then turn the plastic tab to secure. Secondly mount diagonally opposite sides so that you are not wrestling with a tilted HSF for the last two posts. With both of these tips, I can install an ACF7P with about 30 seconds per post with no heavy pushing required.

I don't remember having any issues mounting mine.

insta-12C improvement over the silverstone heat pipe cooler I was using.

Does this cooler benefit from lapping?

I'm still going to have to get some cooler temps if I am going to return my system to the cabinet it was in, which doesn't have much airflow in it.

I've been waiting on the $$$ to do a Swiftech Watercooling setup, but will have to wait a bit longer. It's too bad because the ASUS board/ E6400 overclocks like a demon. 3.4 GHZ with not very well set up aircooling, as long as I don't put it back in the cabinet. like my wife needs it that fast for WOW, but it's like everest, if it's there, I'm gonna climb it/ OC it. :)
