Hi

I'm looking to buy an sata HD to archive very important video data, 200 to 300gb. I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for companies or models to look at. Seagate has the barracuda ES (successor to the NL35) series that looks promising.

I won’t be using it often, only to add files from time to time. The rest of the time it will be stored in some kind of air tight padded case. DVDs are unreliable. I have a tape drive but 10 tapes equals the cost of an HD, so might as well go with the quicker one.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
 
They're all roughly the same. You want to avoid one point of failure though. See if you can get a service online that will keep your 2-300GB of data for you as well. That would give you redundancy.
