Alrighty guys guys I need some measurments of the aquatube. Please note that I need exact measurments in MM. I am planning to have some cnc'ed and then if they turn out good having some sold.

Also I was wondering how the aquajet worked so if anyone could tell that'd be great.

If your going to all that trouble I would just ask Sharka to give you a deal on one of the Titan or Blue ones they have in overstock.

Cant you just design something similar on your own? Why does it need to be exactly the same as the AC one?

Because it already is perfect. :p

I have a proto which should be ready any day now, made of delrin (hope you like black or white lmao) using G1/4" threads which will be good because there is a lot available for that size from innovatek etc. Will post pics when done.

The AC part is perfect except for the G 1/8 threads. So why use delrin? Does it have a plexi port?

Isn't the AquaTube aluminum? In which case I would think it is readily apparent to you why he would want to use delrin *cough* corrosion *cough* . Even though it is anodized problems can arise in the manufacturing that cause defects in the coating which could lead to corrosion. With delrin there is no possibility of that happening. Also, if he made it out of aluminum it would just be a simple aquatube knock off, out of delrin it is a different yet similar product.

Yes it is which is why I will be using stainless steel or brass.

Aren't you basically admitting to design theft in a public forum?

do you have any idea how much a brick of stainless would set you back?

Just to clarify I just want to dimensions so I can
A) make it better
B) Make it better
And did I mention
C)make it better

The design is almost right except for small things like fittings and material used so after everythings said and done it will be similar yet different.

And stainless steel isn't the easiest of stuff to machine. If you really want to make something people would buy then make it out of copper.

I dunno man polished brass is kinda sexy.

A lot of people would buy a copper Aquatube (me included) as AC once made these. AFAIK they will never attempt to make anymore due to problems with machining them. However, people still query them about making some so I think there is a market for them. To properly machine this part it will take at least a 20-25 HP CNC lathe if you plan on making it out of round stock as you will want to use an fairly large indexable insert drill to hog out the material. If you can get a CNC lathe with live axis tooling you could probably machine it almost complete by just reversing the part after the first program set.

dammit nikhsub, i just finished my cad design for a delrin aquatube. PM me, im interested in what you are going to do with this idea.

now either way a delrin one would win my cash. easpecially if its fitted for 1/2in fittings.

Yes it will be, using G 1/4 thread which is 1/2". For the proto I'm using the new DD barbs... and some clear sight glass plugs for the remaining unused ports.

Even copper or brass would be expensive in the big blocks that would be necessary.

Hmmm No help ehh?

Like I said before, with all the accurate dimensions you want, why not just buy one? Tis a small enough investment if you really are planning on doing this via CNC.

Even delrin bar is not cheap... about $45 for a 1 foot piece of 3" diameter.

Well that should be good for at least three tubes. Are you making these out of solid or are you going to use a thick wall tube with a screw on backing plate?

I suppose that was why AC originally choose aluminum as it is cheap, easy to machine, and can be easily anodized to the color desired. All the current copy cats use anodized aluminum as well.

No, solid piece of cylindrical delrin bar, no backing plate.

Yeah, AC likes to keep their prices down ...

All smart manufacturers like to keep their prices down or they soon become dumb manufacturers out of business. Actually speaking their prices have dropped roughly 15-20% on many items of late exclusive of the falling Euro. :p

I think you may have a winner if you can figure out how to get good water action on the front sight port without creating bubbles at high flow rates. My suggestion is that you contact BitchBreaker and ask him what he did to the Aquajets he made out of Polar-flo high flow barbs. IIRC he angled the tubes slightly in some manner.

Added:

This might give you some ideas especially if mounted vertically. :D

If you make the front half a clear sphere then you can have the water flow around the curve without introducing many bubbles.

onceapon a time i was the first guy ever to make a 1/2" aquatube..we used DD fitting's on it also, i also made the 1/2" version of the aquajet..was called the aquazilla...Glad to see some one doing it again.
