yes, iknow, all you hardcore modders out there are probably saying to yourself that system is shit. Well its my first attempt at water cooling so lay off please :]

alright. well everything started off well, i hooked it up to my xbox for a 24 hr leak test. Next day, wokeup, no leaks so i proceeded to put it into my computer.

So i hook it up, put on some silver thermal paste and press the power button.
It turns on and then i hear the loud screaming of my motherboard speaker.
The anti burn was kicked in and shut off the system.
I tryed it a couple more times figuring it might just be an air pocket somewhere. but no luck.
I even removed the springs inside hoping for more water flow. still not booting.

So i went upstairs to get a drink.
as i opened the fridge i got an idea.
grabbed a icepack out of the freezer and ran back downstairs.

I left the icepack on the radiator for a little bit and then booted up the pc.

SUCCESS! It worked!
I took off the icepack and it seemed to be doing fine on its own, so i decided to reboot and see if it works again.
It did, so i put it into my case and tested it yet again.
It was working well on its own now, but the only problem was, not the temps i was expecting.
Becuase i could get better temps with my Tt SilentBoost
i decided to take it out for now until i could find a way to fix it.

This was a month ago. Everyday i see my water cooling system sitting on a table next to me, lifeless.
I coudnt stand knowing that i wasted +100$ on this.
So i tryed putting it back in, No booting once again.
Even tryed the icepack, no booting.

Any suggestions or answers to my problem would be greatly appreciated. Thx.

do you think this could be a problem with inadequate cooling capacity, or with a faulty mobo sensor?

Anything in your bios that can be changed, like some sort of temp shut down?

yeah, but not sure if thats just it, plus i dont want to burnup my cpu. what temps do the athlons burn at?

The problem isn't the system, it's the mounting of the waterblock. It's not on tight enough, or square enough.

It sounds like your waterblock isnt making contact with the processor at all. This would cause the shutdown from the high temps.

Remount that waterblock and crank that sucker down. Just be sure you dont crack the core or something like that.

Goodluck

maybe the surface of the block is warped. you should check it somehow. not sure the best way to do that. you could spread thermal compound on the whole surface of the block and try leaving an imprint on a flat surface like a piece of glass with a sheet of paper on top. just an idea.

as was mentioned before - get a shim on that sucker and crank it down as much as you can stand

I thnk it just gets to hot before the water starts to move the heat. If he was able to put ice on it, and have it boot...Then it is tooooo hot. I guess the heat could be from poor contact, too.

could it be that now that you're watercooling and not using a CPU fan, your CPU fan alarm is going off and shutting down the system?

plug any fan [with a speed sensor] in your CPU Fan header, boot up, go to BIOS and disable your CPU Fan alert.

well i got it running again, put a 120mm on the radiator and that cooled it down.
Two problems have now arisen. The noise and the temps.

38 idle and 43+ 100% load with prime95.

If i take out a couple casefans the noise would die down.
But the temps would go up. Not sure what to do.
I also tryed my friends Volcano, which is so loud at the highest
speed, sounded like a car.

You get what you pay for unfortunatly in this case. I would consider those fine temps for the Thermaltake Aquarius system.

Get some sort of fan controller to throtle down those case fans. That will help the noise.

If your motherboard has the holes through it - use them. It is very hard to get good tight contact using their clips. I had to go down about 2 rungs on both sides and I still wasn't happy with it. Went to the hole mount and am running about 4 c over ambient.
Other thing is to make sure that the heatsink is not riding on the lip of the cpu socket.
Oh yeah, TAKE the springs out - they really impede flow.

Have you tried mounting the res/pump in an upright position?
looking at your pict, it looks mounted sideways.
Last, have you verified that you have the hoses arranged correctly, could be picking up extra heat if it is pump water from the res to the cpu then to rad.

yes. all the tubes are in order and i did take out the springs,
the springs were a good idea, but sacrificed water flow which
is not good.
with the overclocking i want to do i have decided to give up on this system.
i will be getting a new case with 120mm fan mounts
hopefully and building my own water cooling system later on.
for now ill be using my silentboost. thx everyone.

ps: can anyone give me a few tips on overclocking
my xp2400+ on my kt400 soyo mobo.
512mb of mem 133.3 mhz (1:1)

heres some ss of how far i've made it, with system stability.
(yes its pretty bad)
