Is Aquamark 3 a good gage of processor vs. graphics performance?

I have an OC'd sempron 2200+ (at 220 fsb) with a 6800 vanilla. In Aquamark the processor gets a score of 5524 and the GFX gets a 6231.

My other system is 3.2E @3.6GHZ and BFG 6800GT. CPU score is 10090 and GFX is 9354.

Looking at these scores it makes sense to me. I think the 6800 is too much even for the OC'd sempron. I can make an argument that the 6800GT is a bit slower than the CPU. What do you think?

old hardware it was a good indication, because the game was based on the Aquanox game engine, which is actually used in games, not just synthetic like 3dmark.

however it is insanely cpu limited now

I score 50000 with my stock a64 3000+ and stock 6800nu, with the 6th vertex pipe unlocked and an overclock to 2.3ghz i score 63000

I have been using it to test my setup today I got a Score of 82,569 on my 7800 GT :D I was using it too see how my OCing was working in Grafics.

Can you guys let me know what the scores are for cpu and graphics separately? The scores are different.

I saw a thread where people posted their 3dmark scores. Maybe something like that is in order. That should answer alot of the "what is the best video card to get for my aging XXXprocessor" questions.

What do you think? I have a few cpu's that I can get scores from.

funny thing about aquamark a better gfx score will raise the cpu score also...

eg: get a new card run test and your cpu score goes up when you go from 5200 to 6800 or whatever..

Does it go up alot? Did you OC when you upgraded cards? :p

That's wierd. I guess that is what I am trying to find out. Does Aqua do a good job of comparing GFX and CPU?

My Vid card is stock, no need to overclock it just yet :D it is an eVGA so it is factory Overclocked, but the CPUsure is :D Dont know how good it is but for me it worked on setting things up too see how it was running, it went from say 72000 to 82569 after the overclock.

Anyone want to post Aquamark scores? Not total...separate scores for CPU and GFX, please. :D

My Geforce 4 MX440 scored a whopping 690. :D That puts the new generation in to perspective for me.

i always use aquamark to benchmark since i only oc my cpu/mem and leave my gfx card stock, its also much faster than 3dmark, takes forever running one test -.-

here are my scores

gpu: 13539
cpu: 11545
total: 85360

at stock i get about 77.5 i forget wut my cpu and gpu was tho :p

GPU=4449
CPU= 9487
Total= 36047

I really need to get around to getting a new graphics card. :p

If you look at what yathrin and xdkimx posted you can see exactly that. They have the same cpu, but their scores are more than 2000 points different because their GFX cards are different.

I guess that shows the inaccuracy of this program.
