Call us crazy but we sure are suckers for a slick external water cooler. PC Perspective has a neat looking system called the Aqua Computer Aquaduct 360 XT on the test bench that some of you guys might really like….if you got the extra dough burning a hole in your pocket.

The Aqua Computer Aquaduct 360 XT is an excellent water cooling solution capable of handling the latest CPUs and video cards. It delivers very good cooling to multiple components. The Aquaduct 360 XT exhibits excellent build quality and highlights German engineering at its best. It comes with Aqua Computers advanced Aquaero controller and Aquasuite software, which allows monitoring and controlling just about every variable in the water cooling system.

This system is like a standalone version of the Koolance PC4-1020BK or the PC3-720BK or maybe vertical versions of the EXOS-2, don’t you think?

It sure looks pretty, but Aqua likes to mix Copper/ALU in their setups. Seems that while the CPU block is a copper base, they use a chrome finish on the block which is a no no.

There is nothing wrong with mixing AL/CU together as long as you have the right distilled water/glycol/water wetter mix to stop galvanic response.

Well, I saw the price for that unit ($530.00 or so..and I think that's without waterblocks or any other options) and that one has to remove the top lid to even fill the water. That and I'd be paranoid about knocking it over all the time, since it sits upright, not flat. Don't see how the unit will sell well based on all of that to be honest..but who knows.

Aqua Computer does make some very good looking stuff, and a lot of it actually works pretty well. Aqua Computer is moving away from Alu as all their new blocks use Copper. I had good results with my Cuplex XT di, and it is very slick looking. I personally am not a fan of external cooling solutions, but I can see where they would be beneficial, like in HTPC's and SFF rigs where there is not a lot of room to work with.

Looks schweet and the software features are extensive. Thing is, $800 for that water cooling system is a tad bit too expensive for my tastes.

I'm sorry, but you cannot "stop" gavanic response, you can slow it down. There are quite a few threads covering galvanics over at XS forums with a few chemical engineers that can explain it a whole lot better than me. Here is a nice long thread on working with a mixed system and galvanic corrosion

I wonder how much of the price is due to the exchange rate. with the dollar as weak as it is, a lot of things are more expensive than the would be otherwise.

does look like a well made unit that preforms good.

Dumbest answer of the thread... While you might be technically right that with care, it could work, there is no reason to go that way when there is a lot of better copper/brass parts available in the market.
