Applying thermal paste to GPU - question

It might be a stupid question but I was wondering something. I just installed an Artic Cooling Twin Turbo on my 4850. I applied a thin and even layer of MX-2 on the GPU core before installing the cooler on it.

I removed the cooler after a minute to make sure it had good contact between the two and then I put it back with the same thermal paste.

Is it all right or should have I cleaned it and reapplied fresh thermal compound?

No it's fine, cleaning it off is just a waste of good paste.

Just make sure if you pull it off and see bare spots that maybe you should reapply a bit more but no need to rewipe.

If you tried a different type of "grease" you should completely clean off the original grease. Then you can see if the new "grease" works.
