oh yea its applying thermal paste on a P4 2.6 M0 Stepping :D with stock heatsink and fan:cool:

If you're using the stock HSF, don't forget to remove the thermal pad or you will run into many problems.

I am sure there is some nasty adhesive on that thermal pad right? Any quick way of getting it all off there?

Ordered a 2.6c myself and am going to use the stock stuff with AS5 for a bit just to get me gaming again :D

Actually it comes off the area that would cover the core pretty easily, just leaves a little gunk from the 2 edges where they apply adhesive. Just be careful not to push/smear it on the bottom of the heatsink, the paraphin base they use leaves a residue behind, peel up one edge and it comes right off. Then just clean the bottom of the heatsink with Isopropyl Alcohol (I found 98% pure at my local drug store), if you need to scrub at it I use a coffee filter since they are lint free. That should do it.
