Things worked best for me with my modified Arctic Silver method.

They say you should draw a thin line down the middle of your processor with AS5. I tried that with OK results but I had better results when I took that same amount of AS5 and piled it up on the CPU heat spreader towards the middle in a rectangle that approximately lined up with where the core is underneath.

When you put the heatsink on and twist it a little from side to side to remove any air bubbles the AS5 will cover the entire surface very well.

If you're not happy with the results you can always try again and compare temperatures.
