Application tiling software for hi-res displays

I was wondering if any of you knew of software that would automatically tile stuff like Firefox windows a few times over so they do not take the WHOLE screen when you "maximize".

Eg. Say I purchased the 24" Dell display, when I open Firefox I don't want it to take up the whole screen but only 1024px width so it is the "standard" website size and none of the text is all in one line etc..

Ultramon does not have features like this :(
 
While thinking about the 2405fpw, I started wondering about futsing that would happen to position two document/web pages side by side. The only thing I could come up with was buying an NVidia card that offered the NViews Gridline utility. Here's a link:
