Apple versus Dell 20"

I'm thinking of getting a display for my Macbook. It has a tiny screen, I think buying a 20" monitor would be perfect for my budget and its a good size.

The main options I have to choose from are the Apple 20 " Cinema Display and the Dell 2007WFP. I understand they use the same panels, or does the Apple have to same as the 2005?

When I include the student discount and so on, the Apple is only €50 more expensive. The real question is whether I want the Apple's stunning looks or the Dell's input options. Since the laptop only has onboard graphics quality isn't too big an issue, it mainly for general use and the occasional bit of Sims 2. A PS2 input might be nice sometime too. That would have to have perfect quality though, to replace a tv.

I dunno what I'm asking here, just are there any other obvious things different about the monitors. There are almost no threads about the Apple, and loads about the Dell, is there any glaring reason other than the price?

Thanks everybody as it is driving me crazy, having the good looks or the inputs. The price works out close enough with the latest Apple price drop.

I'd shoot for the Dell because of the inputs... Looks aren't everything.

Make sure your Macbook can drive whatever LCD you buy at it's native resolution. Or you will be most unhappy with it.

Some people like dell's look better than the apple. I think the dell looks pretty nice.

I agree with you, the Dell actually does look very good. And I think my desk is more 'Dell' than Apple, and the black macbook would look better with the Dell than the metal Apple monitor.

But then again, I'll rarely use the inputs, rather connect the games console to the main tv.

The computer can handle 1920x1080 which presents another problem, the 20" Apple is €460 and the 23" €660, seems a sin not to get the bigger one, but then the price is getting so much bigger than the 2007wfp €390. It would be good to have one which will remain valuable and cool in a good few years, another advantage for the Apple I think.
