Hi Guys,

I'm thinking pretty seriously about getting an Apple TV and converting my movies to .mp4 format.

I want to put all my movies/photos/music on to a NAS drive but I'm abit unsure as to whether the Apple TV will be able to see it with out one of my PC's/Macs running. I have found this product from Synology http://synology.com/enu/products/CS407/index.php
which has a built in iTunes server http://synology.com/enu/products/features/itunes.php and 4 drive bays but i believe with an Apple TV as you set it up it provides you with a password you need to enter into iTunes to enable sharing and i don't see how you would be able to do this with a NAS drive.

Has any one out there set up something like this where Apple TV gets its files from a NAS WITHOUT needing to run a PC or Mac or perhaps even used the product I mentioned above??

Cheers,

Luke

i believe it is only possible by hacking the TV.
look around google and you should be able to find the info you need.
