AppleInsider has the lowdown on a patent application (from last year), recently made public, for a Force Imaging Input and Device System. Hmmm, force sensitive touchscreens? Cool.

"One drawback to using touch pads as input devices is that they do not generally provide pressure or force information," the company writes. "Force information may be used as another input dimension for purposes of providing command and control signals to an associated electronic device."

Ok, I usually find Apple quite innovative, but in this case haven't they just created a mini version of a Wacam tablet?

Its more of a mod or hybrid of capacitance based touchpads and magnetic inductance tablets. Difference being you can now have foce sensitive touchpads that allow you to use your finger instead of a wacom pen/mouse

Finally, a computer that will be able to tell when I'm pissed off. Smashing the keyboard never seemed to get that message across.

What a lousy article. You mention this snippet then dont bother mentioning either the patent NUMBER or a link to it or a PDF of it.

Some of us might like to read the whole thing. Sure we can go hunt it down, but what kind of journalism does an article and leaves out the critical information? Morons.:rolleyes::p
