For those of you that need it, Apple has released Mac OS X 10.6.2. The update includes dozens of fixes and a handful of feature enhancements for good measure.

Among the general issues addressed in the update are a well-publicized if unusual bug that could result in data loss when using a guest account, a problem that could cause a system to logout unexpectedly, Spotlight search results not showing Exchange contacts, the reliability and duration of VPN connections, VoiceOver performance, and video playback and performance issues that could crop up for the latest iMacs when AirPort is active.

But Macs don't need updating!

This service pack didn't warrant a price tag?

Steve's got a guilty conscience.

They didn't release a service pack. They just took out some useful features. I mean how else are you going to get rid of all your pr0n? :)

"It just works" (after a few patches and updates, just like Windows).

cough cough

"and it's not going to have any of the problems my last operating system had"

But here's the thing, they don't call it a "service pack", they call it a "new version".
They are not fixing broken things, just adding them. So "It just Works":D

They call it an update. Windows Service Packs are collections of previous hotfixes. This is not a collection of previous fixes, so it's not a service pack.

In the little window that comes up telling you you have updated system software to install it says right there in the list all the things that are wrong they're fixing. There is no tongue-in-cheek reference to just working or anything pretensious about it. It is in fact a new version. Apple has a really strict version numbering system.

This is not news, why is this even here?

Defensive, aren't we? As with the other Apple thread, cool your jets. We're having fun. We know it's not a service pack.
