Apple Ibook decent enough?

I am looking to pick up a used 1.3Ghz Ibook for music scoring/sequencing of external synths and other random school work/web browsing. Will most likely be using Finale and Logic, though it is doubtful that I will be using soft synths a lot. My biggest question is if I will get a lot of latency when recording the audio tracks through USB to a 7200Rpm firewire hdd if I have an older system. I will probably be building a desktop system down the road, but it would be nice to have something that I could use to sequence when I am not in my room. I see them going for about 600-700 on craigslist depending on how much ram it has already installed (14" display model). Will definiately be buying a gig of ram if it doesn't already come with it.

Think it will be good enough?

1.5ish ghz G4 powerbooks with 1gb or 1.25gb of ram go often for around 700 on ebay. Just the other day a 15" 1.3 1.25gb of ram powerbook with tons of software and an extra battery went for 690 so I'd browse there for a while.

I just got my 15" powerbook with 1ghz/512/combo for 520.
