MacBook Pro Repair Extension Program for Video Issues - Apple Support
If you have a 2011 MacBook Pro (15"/17") or 2012/2013 Retina (15"), there's a chance the GPU will fail and render the laptop unusable. Apple can run a test, and if it fails, free logic board replacement. As well, while not a 100% guarantee, they give the laptop a once-over and if they see anything failing that they'll be removing as part of the labor, they tend to fix that too.
This was scheduled to end next week but they extended it out to December.
I've run several work machines through this program, it's very nice to get these laptops running again. Many came back with new batteries, bottom covers, top covers, magsafe boards, etc. All free.
