Hello everyone,

I recently purchased a MBP and have been loving my expierence with OS X and Apple computers in general. I'm interested in learning how to develop applications for OS X. I've been reading information on http://developer.apple.com regarding Objective C and the various API's in OS X. I was wondering if anyone has any expierence with ADC (Apple Developer Connection). I have considered joining there "standard" $500 USD a year program but i'm not sure wether or not I will be getting my moneys worth. Has anyone here had any expierences with ADC and if so, what were the positives and negatives. How was the quality of support/software/news/information? Thanks in advance.

adc has links on their pages that everyone can read about technical stuff. I develop in realbasic and it's super simple. I was a developer back in jeez 2000? I forget.

They send you a lot of CDs every month like ALL the SDKs.

Plus, you'll get the beta of 10.5 I would think, and you'll never have to go to a store and buy an OS. You get all the systems, 7,8,9,X and I forget if there was a 6. It's nice if you're an apple tech b/c you have the boot disks right there.

But honestly it's really not worth it if you're just writing code non-advanced style using the latest os x technologies.

The SDKs are really just a kit to allow people to preview/debug technologies.

Thanks for the info!

The "free" ADC has access to all the online documentation right? I've never developed on an Apple platform so i'll probably be needing it..

i never really use the adc online stuff. I had to use it the other day to figure out a voltage output but that was about it.

if you're going to be developing products for profit i suggest a membership for at least tech support, but you may be able to find answers on their site.

it would be nice to have a place on the internet for a developer fourm of bbs like a forum, but that would violate i'm hearing NDAs, so....

basically if you're going for a profit app the dev. $$$ is a good idea b/c you get seeds of the OS betas and such so your app doesn't crash on gold master.
