Apple is catching a ton of flak lately because it has yet to respond to two serious data loss issues. To be fair, one issue is Seagate’s fault, Apple is only guilty of using the drives with known issues.

Tom Karpik explains that Leopard’s Finder has a glaring bug in its directory-moving code, which could lead to horrendous data loss if a destination volume disappears while a move operation is in action.

why should apple start a recall on seagate drives? im pretty sure they are not the only ones that use them... if anyone should be taking the heat its seagate...

but that other problem is pretty bad, im sure they will fix it soon (and charge hehe)

There not retail drives, There OEM drives therefor Apple is responsible for all issues related with them, if Seagate is held responsible for anything is between Apple and Seagates agreement with each other.

Not saying a word is the best damage control. Fix hardware problems individually and fix software problems as silently as possible. It's terrible for users who lose data (or worse for users who could have avoided data loss with a warning), but it protects the brand. And that's what really counts, right? :(

I think an update has already been seeded that might deal with the data loss issue.
