Apple Approves Marijuana App

QUOTE=Love-Man;1034375751]"Marijuana is not a drug[/QUOTE]Yeah, just like alcohol & nicotine aren't drugs.:rolleyes:

...less dangerous than alcohol. Alcohol can kill you, weed cant.
maybe not by overdose, but it can kill you in other ways. It has more carcinogens than tobacco, and can since it impairs judgement, it can cause you to do some really stupid/dangerous things (just ask the 2 kids that got T-Boned by a dumptruck when I was in HS, they'll never get to smoke that OZ that was in the back seat due to a permanent lack of breathing.

Cannabis should be fully legalized, we need it for many important reasons.
Such as (besides medical purposes)?

weed... cure for the economy, make huge money taxing it, save a bunch of money from not having to police it.
You really believe that? Its been brought up for years, but they can't accurately test for DWHigh, and can't regulate it's growth, so they'd spend just as much finding & raiding homegrown farmers just like they did/do moonshiners, after all, they'd have a vested interest in keeping tight gov't control on it's production. The gov't doesn't like competition from "entrepreneurs" who cause the loss of tax dollars. Not to mention that a lot of stoners would rather sit around getting high than go to work, many just end up selling enough to cover their costs instead of working. Been there, done that, got the dead brain cells to prove it.

If marijuana were a medicine, they'd isolate the medicinal compounds and make a pill out of it (I'm serious, they should). I'm all fine with making it legal and taxing the crap out of it; all those hippies supporting Phillip-Morris has a certain irony that I can appreciate. But a doctor who prescribes someone who does not have a terminal illness (in which case I can understand sacrificing the lungs to have you live longer) to burn something and inhale it is more accurately describes as a 'shaman' or 'medicine man'.
I know they tried that several years ago & it didn't work, not sure if they've found a way yet.

at the risk of being labeled a douchebag, my ex would take a couple hits for her morning sickness(more like puke everything all the time sickness) with our first born, perfectly healthy smart little girl came out, none worse for her mom's actions(who went to school to be a midwife by the way).

With my son she refused the weed and took suppositories from her doctor throughout, son was born with a cleft palet, three surgeries later he is okay now.

There are studies that refute that marijuana is damaging to a developing fetus, and I truly believe my son would have been okay if it weren't for the chemicals his mom took to be able to keep food down.

and marijuana smoke is not comparable to cig smoke, not even close, just because you smoke both doesn't mean a thing, people smoke meth too, doesn't mean it's the same as smoking cigs.
Quite possibly true, and I agree that many medications can cause birth defects, etc., (let's face it, the FDA recalls a lot of stuff they've deemed "safe"), but children are also born with defects to healthy people who haven't taken anything that would cause it, so it's hard to say whether or not your theory is true.

Yeah, I know people justify themselves and refuse to listen to anyone by using this bit of logic; if you've never done drugs, then you "don't know anything about it and have no right to say anything", but if you have, then you're a hypocrite and have no room to talk. Well, I fit into the latter category, and have experienced the downside to the party lifestyle, including lingering phys/psych health issues after beign clean for going on 20 years. It took a year and a half before I could think in complete sentences w/o forgetting what I was talking about mid sentence.

the misconception of marijuana is unparalleled.

they do make marijuana in pill form. pure thc in a pill is called marinol.

i wouldnt want my baby moma to get high everyday, but for the morning sickness, there is no better or safer solution, period.

and if it impairs your judgment enough to get in a fatal accident, then youre a dumbass to begin with and darwin had your number before you took the first hit.
"It took a year and a half before I could think in complete sentences w/o forgetting what I was talking about mid sentence."

weed did not do that to you. severe alcoholism, heroin and other opiates cause that bullshit. sounds like you were REALLY stupid in your party days, but im glad you made it through.

If it were legal, why would you have to regulate growth? Just because I can grow corn in my back yard, I don't. ( I do grow some really awesome tomatoes though!) Yes, I technically contribute to the black market when I sell a few to my neighbors, but gosh, you don't really seem to see a huge conscern about it right now; it's not that big of a problem. If my selling a few tomatoes a month is brigging down the economy because I don't report that income, then I'd gladly stop. lol

Raiding homegrown farmers?? That's what's happening now. ..

You must of been high when writing this. With out going into much more detail, your counter arguments do not seem logical to me.

moonshine isnt illegal either... nobody does it anymore because for $12 you can buy a 24 pack of keystone light that tastes better then anything you could make yourself.

and the same would likely happen with weed. even taxed to the sky, it would be dirt cheap. its cheaper to produce then tobacco, and they already are charging more then possibly fathomable.. and yet nobody grows tobacco.

I agree with all but one part. I defiantly could make something that tastes better than some keystone light. but in your defence, I could not make it as inexpensive.

not to really get into this argument, but there is no verifiable link between smoking pot and lung cancer, or any cancer for that matter.

More to the point, THC has been shown to dramatically hinder certain types of cancer, it could be useful in treatment of nerve damage as well.

and I have personally seen it turn people's lives around, people who suffer from drug addiction(real drugs like opiates) and people with severe depression.

Anyone who gets blitzed and decides to drive is an idiot, that's not pot's fault, that's the idiot's fault.

My ex is a currently licensed care giver in colorado, she is an RN and works with ethical doctors and ethical growers who are in it to help people, not to get rich or live the thug life. She legally provides avenues for medicine to people, and while I wasn't at all okay with it in the beginning, I am 100 percent supportive now. She is making a difference, and I am very proud of her.

IMHO adding another legal mood altering drug into the general population who already pretty much brain dead is a bad idea. Last thing we need is more stupid teenagers, don't we have enough already?

The regulation alone would hardly make it any more productive than how we tax alcohol and cigarettes.

Uh, you do realize that it's at least as easy, if not easier, for teens to get Pot as it is for them to get Alcohol, right?

What's more, right now we spend billions a year trying to enforce drugs laws that are completely unenforceable. Worse still, we spend 50k/year to incarcerate people for petty drug crimes that wouldn't exist if they were legal.

What's California's biggest cash crop? Marijuana (this isn't a recent phenomena). It's roughly double the 2nd largest cash crop (dairy).

It's probably the biggest cash crop in the U.S. This debate has been going on since before most on this board were born and almost certainly before anyone here even knew what pot was, and nothing has changed, other than the amount of money trying to fight drugs.

We don't fight drugs (in particular pot), because it's dangerous. We fight it, because so many people make a living fighting it....and because no politician every lost an election saying they were tough on drugs, even if they really didn't give a shit.

There are tons of known carcinogens in Marijuana. I'm all for legalizing it, but arguing that smoking it won't cause cancer is just stupid. You take in more smoke with pop than most do with a cigarette, you inhale it deeper and you hold it in longer.......

well fuck me. I go searching for links to prove what i said and I find

This study really surprises me.

This study really surprises me.

I think they are only scratching the surface too, if the laws were loosened a little and more research could be done, I think there is great potential in the medical use of pot.

I also wish that more people would do what you did and actually see for themselves the truth, so many people write it off as just another drug.

It is pretty clear to me it is something more, and potentially positive.

I had a neighbor with MS years back and she was never all there unless she was smoking pot, and when she was using it daily her symptoms were almost gone. Her doctor told her she was hurting herself with the pot and she stopped, the drop off in her was really sad and very fast.

Way to go Apple. The lack of compassion for the patients who really benefit from medical marijuana because of the lingering "Reefer Madness" stigma attached to it is staggering. I've seen enough 20/20 and nightline interviews with cancer patients who swear that nothing else works as well for the treatment of their side effects to know that medical marijuana does have legit uses. People who have a stick up their ass about weed really need to cup the bullshit and take a long look at what's driving their prejudice. Do you really feel comfortable telling cancer and glaucoma patients that you know more about their pain that they do? get over yourselves.
