I saw the old version of the Apple 27 inch LED IPS panel today at Frys. That thing is amazing. I want one. How do you get it to work with a PC? Also are these monitors good with FPS like BF3? Its not the thunderbolt one its the old version...

Works fine if your card has a mini dp port or with an adapter.

I'm not hip on all this young hippidy dippidy mumbo jumbo slang.

It's only gay if the swords cross?

Biggie Smalls believed that as long as there was a chick involved, it was OK.

I beg to differ.

How off-train this thread went!

Biggie in a DP? FFS dude, mentally blinded, no matter who the chick was.

Also, it's gay if the swords cross or if the guy isn't a complete stranger. Just sayinz.

I only have DVI on my video card. So I would need a DVI to mini displayport adapter. Problem is everyone I have seen says it will only do up 1920x1200. Are their any that will give me the full resolution?

Unless you're an Apple fan, love/need the white monitor color, or come across a GREAT deal, that extra $150 can go towards a better non-Apple 27-30" monitor with a similar S-IPS panel. Just sayinz.

Also, I came up with that for all the gross stuff my now-girlfriend used to text or message me v_v *shakes head*

By all means, find another glossy IPS monitor with a warranty in the US.

Good point, BigJay, and I also forgot that not everyone is a DIYer (i.g. able or willing to just remove the AG coating from their existing monitor). Also, yes, warranty is a very good thing when not buying used.

That is why I want the Apple display. No ag coating. But after reading the reviews for the adapter at amazon, it says that you can not enter the bios or see the windows boot screen with it. Is that true? I find that hard to believe.

Does the Apple display not have a DVI in? If it does, you can just use that in situations where you might need to access the BIOS or monitor the boot screen. (You didn't post the model number you're looking at, and I'm not a huge follower of Apple's 27" displays.) If the adapter has problems with those two things, you may also need a secondary input for running Windows in Safe Mode, but neither of those things are big issues imo.

I can't answer this with anything approaching certainty.

I could believe that the boot screens wouldn't display depending upon when power hits the USB ports.

I can't believe that the BIOS wouldn't display. The adapter doesn't need drivers to be installed, it just pulls power over USB. In my mind, if your keyboard would work, the monitor would as well.

Take every thing in this post with a grain of salt.

It doesn't. Displayport only.

To many hoops to jump threw to get it to work. I'll probably just get the Dell U2711...

I RMAed my DELL U3011 for an Apple LED Cinema Display 27". Honestly, there really aren't any hoops to jump thru if you buy a video card for your PC with DisplayPort. I use it with a custom built PC with an nVidia GTX 570 and the BIOS and Windows boot screen display fine. And while this is just personal preference, I found the AG coating on the U2711 and U3011 absolutely unbearable, you couldn't pay me to use a DELL monitor. For other questions with the ACD27", you might have better luck with responses in the official thread we have here:

Aw ok that is good to know. Now I will have to fine a video card with displayport as well. How well is the Apple at games like BF3 if I might ask?
