.App files: Do they contain personal information?

So the gist of the situation is that I have a teacher who's receiving a new Macbook, and would like a bunch of software to go with it. I already have this software, but I was just wondering if I could copy it over to her computer, rather than redownloading all the .dmgs. (I'm at my bandwidth cap right now, and doing so isn't exactly the best thing until April.)

Would the programs run? Would they contain any personal information? (Like MSN Messenger, with logins and passwords.)

Thanks to all in advance.

Passwords and such are usually kept in the Keychain. Any settings are kept in (I believe) the Library folder. I'm not 100% sure if coping over the .app files will allow the programs to run, but if they do, I wouldn't be wary of losing any personal data.

Depends on the program. Some require files in the user library, others from documents...

Apps don't store data... it is possible to read and write within them, but I've yet to see a program that does.

The actual application folder itself (.app) will never contain any personal information, except in some rare cases serial numbers and registration codes and such.
