Hey guys, had an incident yesterday. I had everything powered down, as I was resoldering a vdimm wire to the pot on my Infinity, and dropping my new PC3200 VX into the board. When I hit the switch on the back of the power supply, the ups instantly flashed the "Overload" light and make lots of noise. I unplugged everything from the ups and hit the power button, still flashes the overload light and makes noise. I disconnected the battery and the unit works fine.
I checked my soldering and nothing splashed down onto the board. I did forget to remove my bios battery and unplug the power supply cables...my bad. There was no smoke or any nasty noises, and the computer is working just fine.
I'll take my ups to my parent's place this weekend and try using the battery from their XS1000, and try my battery in theirs.
On a related note, the wiring fault light has been on since I moved into this place almost 2 months ago.
So, any hope for this ups? Anything I can try? I've gone through the faq's on APC's site, and the solution doesn't match what happens with this unit.
