They're calling it an "open beta", but is it basically the official launch of the game?

If not, and there's going to be another official launch, will we be able to keep the characters we've already currently leveled-up?

Maybe just a new download client or updated current one?

Just wondering if I'm wasting my time leveling-up my characters if there's an "official" launch and we lose all of our progress.
 
From what I've heard there will be no wipe once the game officially launches unless there is some sort of problem.

I don't think they will wipe characters. But there is the possibility of them resetting items or things you've purchased. For example a week or two prior to open beta they accidentally destroyed everyone's themes and music stuff........I didn't have any so I had no idea about it. Haven't played open beta yet, was going to give it more time to fix stuff.
 
What's going on? I thought this game already launched, then closed like a month later. Is APB coming back again?
 
It's an F2P game now. lol. Guess they'll just have a cash shop like other F2P games.

Well, I would say possibilities of both. They are still adding items, they might decide they need to remove something or some sort of glitch happened.

Just pointing out themes/music poofed, so it could happen. Their patches haven't been anywhere near perfect from the ones Ive experienced.
 
According to the devs your characters will not be wiped or reset, although some things might if any weird bugs require it.
 
can anyone provide a quick rundown of what type of changes were implemented between APB failure and APB relaunch?
 
What happen to the [H] thread on APB where everyone was posting their char information?
 
I've played since original beta, and then I played in closed and now open beta for APR.


Honestly... I think they have f**cked the game, hard.

Issues I have with the game:

  • They have made LTL "less than useless", there is zero reason to ever use LTL weapons.
  • Threat changes, there are now three tiers; bronze, silver, and gold. There are ten ranks in each. This has made it so that players in certain parts of the list get zero missions. You can sit there for an hour and never face a human player.
  • Not so much an issue, but being F2P it's attracted BRs,Underage Children, and more hackers this time around.
  • The TTK in APBR is lower than APB, it feels like I'm playing call of duty rehash #103243.
  • Some of the missiosn are impossible to complete, even more so for solo play.
  • Terrible servers, I don't know who they have attempting to run their servers, but their server issues and latency issues are insane. (I know they are multi-homed with HE and some one else).
  • Their developers are... well for lack of a better word dumb. I was personally attacked for my views of the game on the forum by a developer, he said my views were biased because I was related to another poster (Funny part is, the other guy lives about 3,000 miles away and we've never met).

Look at G1s game lineup, they don't have the proper knowledge to be running a game like APB, most of what they have done was already in the game/ready to be put in, they just switched the light switch. When you have a game linking you to a bunch of surveys that are malware riddled so that you can "EARN FREE G1 POINTS!", you have a problem.

It's my understanding that their popular game "War rock" is now over run by hackers and under age kids.

Bottom line is, G1 is listening to the QQ of the bad players (it was the communities idea to change threat) and thus in turn ruining the game. It'll become a new war rock, eventually over run with hacks and screaming kids.

(Also, whoever spends $50 USD to purchase ONE gun in game is crazy).

just for a slightly different point of view, I played original game and have played a LITTLE (less than 6 hours) of the new APB.

I feel like driving has improved, and honestly at least for my location, ping has improved too. I don't hate the new system, because as someone who just started the game, and only have starting gear, I don't want to be put against people with all the gun and character mobs.

I haven't looked into any of the cash shop, and my opinions may change after I play more

You are right, the driving has improved... in some cases.

The system as it stands is great for a new player, but once you start ranking up you get less and less player missions. I'm sitting at Gold 9 and unless I am soloing, it'll be about two hours before we get players.
