Has anyone implemented indexing software such as this for their home network?

I have a large ZFS pool that stores all my media, and I have various other shared drives on my network. I'm thinking about setting this up so I can hopefully host a LAN webportal so that I can search for any of my media though one google-esque interface and click on the weblink for it to be opened directly in explorer/media program of my choice.

Does anyone else have a similar setup?
 
Benefits would be it could essentially consolidate all my media across shares and servers, and being hosted on an SSD provide near instantaneous results.
 
That sounds very interesting, I would love to hear your results if you follow through with it. Or even a guide if you're so inclined! I don't know if you are aware of xbmc (kodi now, i hate the new name...) it provides all of the functions you are looking for and a whole lot more. It can scrape media from almost any source (samba, nfs, http/https/webdav,sshfs, etc) It supports a centralized mysql database that multiple clients can connect to and share, as well as various web interfaces to view the content with if you like.
