My monitor is constantly flickering from black to picture, until eventually the picture looks all corrupted with vertical lines and I have to reset my desktop. What the hell is going on?

I'm running Win7 64bit with a Asus GeForce GTX 970 on a AOC G2460PG monitor.
I'm also running a lg 24gm77 as a secondary display and i doesn't end up with these corruptions.
 
No expert here, but did you try to connect the display to another computer /laptop etc?
Try another cable?
I've experienced the first and it turned out my GPU was fried.
