with people posting about modding cheap ac units for homebrew vapor chillers... anyone know where the *&$% the actual dc power plug conects INSIDE the unit ?

the ac unit fell out of my window with my knee on the power cord, thus ripping the power cord out of the unit. With the unit shell taken off, i cant find any male connections anywhere internally, as theres two female connectors on the power plug for the inside of the unit

It will most likely be running into a disturbition box... Then it will run to the other componets, IE the fan, and other things that may be in it. But it may be a bit different, get some pics.

You should buy a new one or take it to a repair shop. If you can't easily see where the wires came out, you could hook it up wrong and burn your house down.

While the above is true, the much more likely result is that he will shock the living bejesus out of himself and die that way.

In all seriousness, you just gotta trace the power. AC only has 3 main electrical components. A compressor motor, a fan, and its controls. FInd the compressor motor and trace its wires back. It'll eventually lead to the control module and eventually you'll find the power distro block.

RIP powerade I barley knew thee. In all seriousness I wouldnt mess with it. Take it to a shop or get another. Being fried isnt fun.

Oh please. A little AC voltage isn't going to kill you.

Find the distribution block (it's generally on the inside compartment of the AC, between the coldside evaporator and the radiator. :)

Okay is the unit 110V or 220V? you should be able to tell by the plug or one of the labels.
If its 110 you should have a hot(usually a black wire), a neutral (white wire), and a ground( green or bare)
If its 220 it would be two hots(black) and a ground

You should be able to see where the power cord is supposed to go by finding the clip thats supposed to hold it in there. I am assuming the cord runs in on the side where the controls are. As posted above you should be able to follow the wires from the fan/compressor back to the control switch (on/off/hi/low etc). There should be a place where the cord ties in.

Now be careful. Standing in you house with your hair on fire is going really put a damper on the day. If you are still unsure if you have it hooked up correctly ask someone knowledgeable to double check it before you plug it in.

Hmm, he hasen't posted in this thread for the last 4 days, wonder what happened to him...
edit- nvm his last activity was yesterday.
