I have been searching for a large DAS solution and this came up. A Norco DS-500e, It is a 5 drive raid sub system that attaches via eSata. Seems like it might work for large video storage. You get the advantage of Raid 0 or 5 Speed over the sata bus. You actually get to use some of that 3gb/s limit
USB/Firewire 400 is to slow, Firewire 800 limited to drive size, SCSI320 and Fiberchannel are wicked expensive, but eSata if it truly can be a link to a raid sub-system seems quite attractive. I was wondering if anyone has had experience with one of these or the company in gereral. I've never till now heard of them.
