Anyone use a headphone amp?

I have been looking at the Little Dot MK2, its 200 shipped on ebay. I read a review of it on head-fi and it sounds like a good amp for the money.

I am using DT770's right now, and have not really been blown away by them. When I got them, I got them because they are supposed to have lots of bass, but it just wasn't there. I then realized that it must be similar to car audio, a subwoofer sounds like crap if it does not receive enough power, so headphones must be the same way.

I mainly use the computer for gaming, and can't wait to hear everything with the amp. I am just wondering if anyone else games with headphones and an amp, if so, what do you use and how do you like it?
 
i have dt770- 80 ohm version. with an x-fi these have enough bass to vibrate my skull!
if u have the 250 ohm version u need an amp. a REAL amp. a portable amp wont help much over an x-fi -which puts out almost as much as most portable amps
 
Lucky you, I've got almost this exact rig.

ExtremeMusic X-Fi > Little Dot II++ > Beyer DT770's

It's a great combo, I love my Little Dot, it'll breath a lot more life into the DT770....which respond well to good amping.

You won't regret buying the Little Dot, I know I didn't.
 
I was going to get the Little Dot II++ but then they came out with the MKII and it has received good reviews, so I figured I would get that. I am glad to hear you liked yours, I cant wait to get it.

ourfpshero, I have heard conflicting stories on that. Some people (usually those without an amp) say that the X-Fi is sufficient for the DT770's but others say that it will definitely benefit from having an amp.
 
ok i have had several small amps including an ibasso d1, cmoy, go vibe v5, among others. some made a little difference but not much. if u have the 80 ohm cans u should be able to get rocking bass with just the x-fi.
now all of these amps are small portable types- a nice large powerful amp wouls be a different story

do u have the 80 ohm version? what are your settings in the x-fi console? my dt770 will literally vibrate with bass if i want it to. pm me if u want pics of my settings
