new ati x1800xt have a technology called avivo wich makes video playback non pixelated (blocky) and shows nice colors, anyone seen a review of it or tried it, im just curious? and does nvidia offer anything similar?

I dont think they released the decoder yet. I think its like Nvidias Purevideo technology, where all there 6800 and above cards support it, but you need to purchase the decoder seperate to use the technology.

NV offers PureVideo on GF 6600s and above, which is a hardware assisted video playback engine.

does pure video deblock streams and videos like avivo? i just got a new screen n some videos dont look too nice when they are streched across a 24in crt. i just got a 6800gt and so far satisfied with it. but since i am using high resolutions some streams video don't look as nice as they should be.

If I remember correctly, purevideo was "broken" on the 6800 cards. It works on the 6600s and 7800s I believe. I could be wrong.

NV40 and NV45 cores didn't have wm hardware acceleration, dunno why though
