Anyone Thought about using BTX cases?

Has anyone here built any systems using the new BTX standard. According to the design they are supposed to aid in cooling by forcing air over the cpu, chipset and graphics card, then straight thru the back. To me this seems like the best method for cooling available. I know many of the dells and gateways are using this model now. I just wanted to know what everyone else thought.

I found one of the dell xps 400 cases on ebay and a compatible motherboard for that case. I figured I would give it a try. Not to mention the cases look very nice. :)

do a search and you'll find a few threads.

BTX is dead on arrival. Not enough changes from ATX to warrant a new standard. It's more of a ploy to get you to buy more new stuff.

i have a btx pc although i didn't build it.

On the contrary, I think that the standard is marketed not to end users but to OEMs and ODMs. What marketing efforts have you seen that lead you to come to that conclusion?

I agree, plus, what's not to like? Inline airflow, shorter traces on the motherboard (reduced costs), smaller-than-micro atx availability, putting the hottest component next to the coldest air source...why does everyone hate btx? Although, I can probably accurately guess the answer to that question.

lol, i know! i think it's because it was too big of a push. if more btx mother boards were made, including from amd, and newer, better looking btx cases, i would think everyone would want to move to it. but it save oem companies lots of money. dell doesn't even use an out take fan in there bigger atx cases, i know you don't need one, but still. parts will definately last longer to, it was in my gateway documentation. personally, i love my computer, and if amd offered more btx mobos, if any exist, then i would switch to amd.

To be honest, it didnt seem like BTX got a lot of attention with the end users. And yea, like most of us said, there werent enough BTX cases for a good enough selection, and there werent enough boards for that either, so basically its something that seems to have been very short lived as an alternative to an ATX configuration. Not really worth switching imo.

The marketing in my head :D

I'm pretty sure if there was any marketing towards end users, they've given up already.

So when you said "It's more of a ploy to get you to buy more new stuff," you were just being facetious? ;)
