anyone running extra spicy xeon e5 v2s on supermicro x9dai or x9dae? The Asus motherboards don't seem all that reliable and Asus has RMA issues.

I think he is safe as he is not openly buying or selling spicy stuff.

I am using an x9DAi with 2 unbranded E-26XX v2 2.3-2.7Ghz 10c/20t chips. The only thing I had to change was the ram I was using, the board was first used with 2 E5-4640v1 chips and non-ecc ram. The new chips need ECC ram to work. I also updated the bios to 3.0.

It has been running with these chips for about 2 months now. I did fold on it at first but recently I have been running WCG, POGS, Seti, and some other boinc projects to test it out.

I have had no problems running spice on asus boards apart from ram, the ivy chips are very particular about ram - if its not on the mobo vendors approved list then do not expect it to work - even if it works fine with sandy based xeons
